So I really needed this “clean your room checklist” today. Actually, I needed it yesterday. I had sent my two kids to their rooms to tidy up before going out to play, and I got the same question I always get, “What should I do first?”
My son likes to play the “tell-me-what-to-do-next” game each time he goes to clean his room – which is every day! It was “fun” at first, but now it’s time to teach more independence.
On some days, my kids seem to get overwhelmed with where to start and in knowing when they’ve completed the task. I needed something to help guide them while empowering them to be independent.
I was researching online for another blog post I was writing when I came across this printable by Early Bird Mom, Sarah Mueller:
This free printable is available in black (shown) and white. To download your copy, just visit Early Bird Mom. This cute checklist is sure to inspire kids to complete each task. Checking off what they’ve finished will help them stay focused and will (hopefully) help them to use their time more wisely.
Add in a reward for completing the checklist (i.e., play time outside, time with a special toy, fetc.), and cleaning up their room may become a little more fun.
